Here is the Fire Chief's Report for the month of June, submitted to Flin Flon City Council on Tuesday by Fire Chief Jim Petrie. There were seven incidences for the month of June 2004, and they are as follows: - Incident #38 - Bush Fire in Channing, June 4. At 20:34 hours a call was received at the main gate. The caller stated that there was a bush fire in Channing. Upon arrival the fire department found a fire, which was rapidly contained and extinguished. The Fire Chief and six firefighters responded to this call. - Incident #39 - Structure Fire on Adams, June 8. At 17:51 hours a call was received at main gate. The caller stated that her home was on fire. On arrival the fire department found a fully involved structure, flames and smoke visible coming from the main floor and attic areas. The fire was quickly extinguished and the entire structure was checked for extension fires. The approximate dollar loss was $114,000. The Fire Chief and 17 firefighters responded to this call. - Incident #40 - Smoke Detectors at Aspen Grove Apartments, June 10. At 19:00 hours a call was received at main gate. The caller stated that her smoke detectors were going off inside her apartment. The Fire Chief checked the residence and the detectors. The Fire Chief attended this call alone. - Incident #41 - False Alarm on Parkway Boulevard, June 11. At 14:30 hours a call was received at main gate from Secureteck in Winnipeg. The called stated that the fire alarm had been activated inside the home. Upon arrival the Fire Chief determined that it was a false alarm. The Fire Chief attended this call alone. - Incident #42 - Smoke Showing from a North Avenue residence, June 14. At 12:50 hours a call was received at main gate. The caller stated that thick black smoke was coming from North Avenue. Upon arrival the Fire Chief found a person burning the plastic insulation off copper wire. The Fire Chief and one firefighter responded to this call. - Incident #43 - Heat Detectors Hapnot School, June 25. At 10:15 hours a call was received from the ADT in Winnipeg indicating that the fire alarms had been activated inside Hapnot School. The Fire Chief was half a block away and investigated before putting in an alarm. The cause of the alarm was from alcohol being ignited in the chemistry lab. The Fire Chief attended this call alone. - Incident #44 - Cooking Fire at Hill Street resident, June 29. At 08:04 hours a call was received at main gate. The caller stated that smoke could be seen coming out of a Hill Street residence. Upon arrival the Fire Chief determined that the cause of the alarm was a cooking fire, which was contained to the stove. The Fire Chief and seven firefighters responded to this call. The number of alarms for the corresponding month of the previous year 2003 totalled seven. The number of alarms remained the same for 2004 at seven. There were two tours of the fire hall in June. Thirty-five children and seven adults attended. The Fire Chief conducted three fire inspections in June. The Fire Chief serviced the city gas monitors and SCBA's in June.
