Help with tires
A low-interest financing program toward Manitobans’ purchase of winter tires began Monday.
Administered by MPI, the program will provide loans up to 48 months in length at prime rate plus two per cent for up to $2,000 per vehicle.
“We want Manitobans to be as safe as possible on the roads,” said Andrew Swan, minister responsible for MPI. “This financing program provides another option to buy winter tires for people who otherwise may not make this road safety purchase. Snow tires help you stop more quickly and reduce sliding on ice and snow, reducing the risk on the road during Manitoba’s challenging winter
conditions.”
To be eligible for a loan, an applicant must be a MPI customer, purchase qualifying winter tires for a registered passenger vehicle or light truck, and not be subject to financing restrictions. Details will be on www.mpi.mb.ca.
Sale extended
Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) is extending its $15 Senior Seat Sale until Oct. 31.
Seniors aged 60 and over will now get to ride with STC for $15 one-way or $30 return plus tax for the entire month of October.
“Saskatchewan’s population is very geographically spread out,” Minister responsible for STC Jennifer Campeau said. “An extra month of the STC Senior Seat Sale gives seniors the opportunity to travel to even more Saskatchewan destinations and reconnect with family and friends.”
The company also extended its May Senior Seat Sale to include the month of June and saw more than 17,000 senior riders take advantage of the sale during the two months.
