Jonathon Naylor Editor Manitoba Finance Minister Stan Struthers will be in Flin Flon later this month to glean input for the upcoming provincial budget. Struthers is scheduled to host a public consultation on Monday, Jan. 28 at the City Hall Council Chambers from 1-3 p.m. It's one of seven pre-budget consultations _ and the only one in northern Manitoba _ Struthers will attend this month. 'In this time of global economic uncertainty, it is important to keep focused on responsible fiscal management,' Struthers said in a news release. 'But we'll keep working and listening to Manitoba families to ensure their priorities are reflected in the 2013 budget.' Other consultations will be held in Swan River, Gimli, Niverville and Brandon, with two consultations taking place in Winnipeg. Residents unable to attend a consultation are invited to share their opinions in writing with the minister at Budget Consultations, Room 103, 450 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0V8. Feedback may also be e-mailed to [email protected] or provided through a questionnaire at www.gov.mb.ca/finance/consult/intro.html. The NDP government is due to introduce its 2013 budget this spring. The big surprise for northerners in last year's budget was the forced merger of the NOR-MAN Regional Health Authority out of Flin Flon with the Burntwood RHA out of Thompson.
