You're invited to celebrate National Aboriginal Day this Monday at the parking lot outside the Flin Flon Friendship Centre. From 4-8 p.m., the centre will host festivities to commemorate the day, observed across Canada each June 21. "It's basically a celebration of our aboriginal culture and we're encouraging the community to come out and enjoy," said program/events coordinator Jason Mandes. "It's going to be fun. There's going to be events families can participate in, and some good music." Entertainment will include Metis fiddlers, hoop dancers, and a variety of aboriginal games. Aboriginal art will also be on display. Those stopping by will be treated to a free dinner of barbecued buffalo burgers and hot dogs while supplies last. If the weather does not cooperate, events will take place inside the centre. More fun is on the way on Saturday, June 26, when the Friendship Centre will host the Friendship Playday at Phantom Lake from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will include children's activities, a free barbecue lunch, and stage entertainment. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the event will take place at the Creighton Sportex. If you'd like to volunteer to share your talents on stage, phone Jason at 687-8855.
