Jonathon Naylor Editor A proposed addition to a tire and repair shop needs a fence to address noise concerns, Creighton Town Council has decided. Council voted last week to advise Jason's Tire and Auto that since the expansion would abut a residential district, the fence must be up before the addition can proceed. The fence is to be installed along the south end of the existing and proposed building, with a design to minimize associated noise. Council has fielded noise-related concerns from residents over the proposal. Other highlights from the council meeting: Council turned down a request to lease a vacant trailer court lot for storage purposes. Council plans to clean up the vacant lots and make them available for future renters. It was noted that four 'no littering' signs have been ordered for the old highway by Third St. East, where a large volume of trash has been observed. Council approved $5,614 for the removal and replacement of nine outdoor light fixtures at the town hall / fire hall complex. Council voted to request Mayor Bruce Fidler attend the Churchill River Enterprise Region annual meeting being held today in La Ronge, and to cover his expenses. The latest foreman's report outlined projects undertaken in June, including patched potholes, repaired sinkholes and improvements to the soccer field parking lot.
