Jonathon Naylor Editor One man is deceased and another faces charges after a fatal head-on collision just north of The Pas. On Dec. 21 at about 3:45 p.m., RCMP, firefighters and paramedics were called to the accident scene on Highway 10 about 15 km north of The Pas. An early investigation showed that the southbound driver of a GMC pick-up truck drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with a northbound Ford pick-up truck. Responders found both trucks in the east ditch. Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles. The driver of the northbound truck, a 63-year-old man from Shoal River First Nation, was found deceased at the scene. His name was not released. The driver of the southbound truck, a 44-year-old man from Opaskwayak Cree Nation, was taken to The Pas Health Centre in stable condition. Police have charged him with impaired driving causing death and driving while prohibited. Alcohol is considered a factor in the collision. Further charges are anticipated.
