Why is it dangerous for a pregnant woman to drink? Alcohol is a poison. When a pregnant mother drinks so does her baby. When a pregnant woman drinks the alcohol goes directly to her baby and affects the way it grows. When a pregnant woman drinks there is no way to keep the alcohol from reaching the baby. If a pregnant woman gets drunk the baby inside her gets drunk too. When you drink alcohol during pregnancy you can hurt the brain and body of your unborn baby. No one knows just how much alcohol an expectant mother can drink without hurting her baby, so it's best not to drink at all.
