Three new educational resources for fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) targeted at those most at risk were launched by Healthy Living Minister Jim Rondeau. The new resources are designed for individuals who have not had the opportunity to develop strong reading skills. They include a prevention pamphlet, a teaching booklet and a support card featuring cartoon-like pictures and simple text. "Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders have devastating effects on children, their families and their communities," said Rondeau. "These new resources will help provide people across Manitoba with the information they need to help reduce the damaging influences of FASD." Manitoba Health, the Brewers of Canada, Canadian Vintners Association, Association of Canadian Distillers and the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission provided funding for the project. The new resources will be distributed by the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba as part of its ongoing provision of services.9/22/2004
