False alarms add to busy June for firefighters

Eight incidents kept Flin Flon firefighters busy throughout June, city council learned Tuesday.

Council reviewed the fire chief’s monthly report, which detailed the following incidents:

June 5, 7:30 PM: A call stated the alarms were ringing inside a downtown business. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the cause was from a pull station accidentally being hit. The manager was informed that an electrician must be called to check the system. The fire chief and the on-call officer responded.

June 24, 1:30 PM: A call stated that alarms were sounding inside the Hemlock Drive seniors apartments. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the alarm was false. Seven firefighters responded.

June 24, 11:44 PM: A call stated that alarms were again sounding inside the Hemlock Drive seniors apartments. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the alarm was false. Ten firefighters responded.

June 25, 11:15 PM: A call stated the alarms were ringing inside a home on Tweedsmuir Street. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the alarm was false. Twelve firefighters responded.

June 26, 2:24 AM: A call stated the alarms were ringing inside the Green Street apartments. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the cause of the alarm was from burnt food, which set off the alarm system. Ten firefighters responded.

June 26, 3:01 AM: A call was received stating there was a fire behind the hospital. Upon arrival, firefighters found a dumpster on fire, which was quickly extinguished. Twelve firefighters responded.

June 26, 3:50 AM: A call stated there was a grass fire in an empty lot on Harrison Street. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Eleven firefighters responded.

June 30, 4:21 PM: A call from 911 stated the alarms were ringing inside a home on Green Street. Upon arrival, firefighters determined the alarm was false. Ten firefighters responded.
