New exploration is slated to begin this summer at a nickel mine in Lynn Lake that has been closed for nearly three decades. Seymour Exploration Corp. has reportedly purchased the Lynn Lake Nickel Mine for $250,000 from a Toronto company. Richard Murphy, a director of Seymour, told the Winnipeg Free Press that the first steps will be to recover data from the mine and begin engineering reports. The plan is for exploration to begin this summer, he recently told the newspaper. "Historically, Lynn Lake is the third-largest nickel-producing area in North America. Only Sudbury and Thompson are ahead of it," he told the newspaper. Lynn Lake, a town of approximately 800 residents, is located about 240 kilometres north of Flin Flon.
