The May 1 gathering in Winnipeg marked the final Flin Flon Luncheon for spring 2015.
On a beautiful sunny day, we welcomed 70 guests – a wonderful turnout just before folks start heading to their cottages for the summer months.
As is the custom, the caterers served us a roast beef in red wine entrée along with garlic mashed potatoes, cooked vegetables, and vegetarian lasagna.
There were the customary four salads, fresh vegetable tray and a bread basket. Assorted dainties, fresh fruit, bread pudding, coffee and tea rounded out a terrific lunch.
Before the luncheon began, we heard an update on the Seniors’ Rendezvous being planned for June 29 and 30 in Flin Flon. We welcomed Areta Evans from Surrey, BC, to our luncheon for the first time. She came with her brother Doug and brought greetings from the group of Vancouverites who meet for lunch the second Saturday of every month in Surrey.

Following lunch we were treated to a reading of a story written and illustrated by Dave Negrych. It was published in the February-March 2015 edition of Northroots and was called “Survival.”
