Former Flin Flon Bombers defenceman Tanner Korchinski, now a university student, has received a pair of notable awards.
Korchinski is a third-year bachelor of arts student at the University of Alberta’s Augustana campus. He was recently awarded a total of $1,200 in recognition of his hockey and academic skills.
He received the ID Apparel / Karen Vinet Agencies Award, which goes to an Augustana men’s hockey team member who has a good academic standing while enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
Korchinski, a Flin Flon resident, also received an Augustana Faculty Award for hockey.
Korchinski, 24, spent a little over three seasons patrolling the Bombers’ blueline between 2007-08 and 2010-11. In 170 games with Flin Flon he had eight goals and 61 assists for 69 points to go with 107 penalty minutes.
