Jonathon Naylor Editor He didn't really try snapping a giant group photo of all Canadians, but it turns out Chris Hadfield has heard of Flin Flon. In orbit last Thursday, March 21, the Canadian astronaut read a recent Reminder piece on an editorial cartoon in which Hadfield mentions our community. Hadfield saw the article after the artist who drew the cartoon, Patrick LaMontagne, shared it on Twitter. 'That cartoon you drew made me laugh here in orbit, Patrick,' Hadfield soon tweeted back from the International Space Station. 'Your wife was right, everybody knows Flin Flon.' In LaMontagne's cartoon, reprinted as part of the Reminder article, Hadfield is shown using the robotic Canadarm to point a massive camera at Earth. 'Ok, Canada, big smiles! Let's take this group shot again,' the illustrated Hadfield says through a speech bubble. 'Somebody in Flin Flon blinked.' Hadfield's statement about LaMontagne's wife is a reference to the Reminder article. In it, the artist said he sought assurance from his wife that enough people know the name 'Flin Flon' to understand the joke. LaMontagne was surprised to hear back from Hadfield at all, let alone the roughly 10 minutes it took the astronaut to tweet a response. 'It's not like he's sitting on the Internet all day, despite what people may think,' said LaMontagne, a self-syndicated cartoonist who lives in Canmore, Alberta. 'He can't read all of the correspondence directed at him and still work.' See 'Capture...' on pg. 6
