The Progressive Conservatives are attacking the NDP government over the closure of Manitoba emergency rooms. The PCs said that in the past year, 18 rural communities have experienced full or partial ER closures. Since Feb. 2010 Ð less than a year ago Ð there have been 15 full closures and two partial ER closures in communities throughout the province, the opposition party said. The latest closure reportedly came in Souris, a small southwestern town outside Brandon. "When someone gets injured or becomes ill and needs immediate medical attention by a doctor, it is the responsibility of government to ensure that service is available," said Health Critic Myrna Driedger. "The NDP is failing people in these communities. "Will these communities ever get their ER services back Ð or should Manitobans expect even more closures in the years ahead?"
