Jonathon Naylor Editor Flin Flon's young performing talent will be showcased next week when Hapnot Collegiate hosts its annual Dinner Theatre. Mirror Image: A Real Enchanted Musical will be performed Feb. 16 and 17 in the high school's gymnasium. "We have been busy rehearsing Dinner Theatre since the beginning of December and it is coming together nicely," said director Kim Jones. "We had many students interested this year, with over 50 auditioning. We have a large group of Grade 12 leaders as well as many new up-and-coming Grade 9's." The play takes place in a fairy-tale world where princes are charming and stepsisters are wicked. Cinderella's stepsisters zap themselves into a real high school, and lucky for them, mean girls are popular in high school. The Woodsman, who dreams of being a hero, is sent to rescue them, enlisting the help of Danica, a class president hopeful and hard-core realist. With Woodsman and the stepsisters gone, fairy tale land falls apart. As reality seeps into the fairy tales, the characters break free from their stereotypical roles and realize they are in control of their destiny and can be the heroes of their own story. "We are quite happy with the script this year and like the message that you are in control of your own destiny," said Jones.
