Looking for a job? Try Manitoba. The Manitoba economy churned out some 1,900 new jobs in February, giving the province the lowest unemployment rate in the nation. Manitoba's unemployment rate now stands at 4.8 per cent, just over one-third lower than the national rate of 7.4 per cent. About 21,000 jobs were lost across Canada last month, according to Statistics Canada, but the unemployment rate remained the same because fewer people opted to look for work. The latest Saskatchewan unemployment rate was 6.3 per cent. In other Statistics Canada news, the latest population estimate for Canada is 31,714,637 (from October 2003).
