Dan and Teresa Seeley of New York, along with their three children will travel to Gander with about 80 volunteers for "Gratitude for Gander" a big barbecue party they've been planning for over a year. Seeley, owner of a catering business in New York, plans to put out as much food as they can, have fun and meet the wonderful people of Newfoundland who did such a great job on 9-11. Newfoundlanders did what Newfoundlanders do. They opened their homes, churches, schools and hearts and took care of 6,500 stranded passengers. Seeley was not on any of the stranded flights, but was so extremely touched by the unconditional kindness of the people of Gander that he wanted to say thanks. Did you know because everything in Newfoundland happens a half-hour earlier than the rest of North America, fans of the Harry Potter series were the first on this continent to buy the newest installment, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, when it was unveiled at the book stores everywhere at 12:01 a.m. on June 21, 2003. Something to ponder: You know old age is catching up with you when your knees buckle but your belt doesn't!
