If you get an e-mail claiming to be an Internet billing notice from MTS, immediately remove it from your system. That's what MTS is advising after some subscribers have reported receiving a hoax e-mail of this nature. The e-mail has been sent to users with an e-mail address ending in "@mb.sympatico.ca". An MTS spokesperson said the company never requests any sort of billing information via e-mail. The hoax e-mail claims to be from the "accounting department" of mb.sympatico.ca. The message asks that recipients open and read an attached billing notice. It claims that failure to open the billing notice will result in the termination of the recipient's Internet service. One of the e-mails originated from the address [email protected], but it's possible the hoax has been attempted from other addresses as well. Recently, at least one subscriber received the e-mail sporadically for three weeks in a row.
