A woman who safely escaped from a partially submerged pickup truck outside Denare Beach has been charged with drunk driving. Creighton RCMP say the 34-year-old woman was behind the wheel at 11:30 p.m. last Sunday, June 30, when the truck left the road and entered a watery ditch along Highway 167. The vehicle's lone occupant, she has been charged with driving with a blood alcohol level above .08, impaired driving and driving while disqualified. Police also ticketed the woman for having open liquor and operating an unregistered vehicle. The day after the accident, numerous motorists slowed down to look at the black GMC truck in the ditch. It had a large dent on the hood and was submerged in water almost up to the door handles. The driver's side door was open and yellow police tape warned trespassers not to get too close. Some passing motorists appeared to want to ensure no one was still in the truck.
