A Denare Beach man was arrested in Saskatoon this week after police found a range of illegal drugs in his vehicle.

At about 8:20 pm on Tuesday, patrol officers noticed the man driving his vehicle erratically. They conducted a traffic stop at 21st Street West and Avenue U South.

Inside the vehicle officers said they found 24 grams of ecstasy, four grams of methamphetamine, a syringe loaded with liquid cocaine, 16 OxyContin 20 tablets, 21 counterfeit OxyContin 80 tablets, 146 capsules of Gabapentin (an anticonvulsant and analgesic) and $500 in cash.

The man, 31, faces six counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of marijuana and cocaine, and possession of the proceeds of crime.

He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

Traps set

Manitoba Conservation officers are taking steps to reduce the number of foxes and coyotes within
Flin Flon.

“Traps will be set around the landfill, and other areas near city limits,” the City of Flin Flon announced in a recent public notice. “Residents are advised to exercise caution in allowing their pets at large, if there is any danger of them getting into such areas.”

Anecdotal evidence suggests sightings of foxes and coyotes within city limits have become more common in recent years.

Rabid foxes can be dangerous to people. Coyote attacks on people are considered very rare, with serious injury resulting from such attacks even rarer.
