In the latest blow to the Northern Manitoba drug trade, The Pas RCMP have seized enough marijuana to produce 1,000 joints. Acting on a tip and surveillance, police on Thursday seized several ounces of pot from the home of a 72-year-old The Pas man. As a result of the seizure, a warrant to search the man's home netted police more marijuana and related drug paraphernalia. The pot was to be distributed around The Pas and area, police said. Police have charged the man with possession for the purpose of trafficking in marijuana and possession of proceeds of crime. He is scheduled to appear in The Pas Provincial Court on May 17. This is the second time in less than three years that the man has been charged for this offence. The seizure came just two days after Creighton RCMP arrested a B.C. man found to have eight pounds Ñ an estimated $30,000 street value Ñ of marijuana in his trunk.
