Island Lake RCMP arrested a 25-year old man on numerous drug-related charges April 12. An investigation by Island Lake RCMP, with the assistance of the RCMP Winnipeg drug section, resulted in the arrest of the accused, a St. Theresa Point resident. The accused was arrested as he exited a commercial flight to St. Theresa Point, approximately 460 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg. Island Lake RCMP seized 104.8 grams of marijuana, nine capsules of crack cocaine, 20 tablets of prescription codeine-based Tylenol 3, as well as lorazepam, alprazolam, and temazepam, all prescription benzodiazepine tranquilizers. The accused faces four counts of trafficking, and four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
