Creighton tap water is safe to drink once again.

A precautionary drinking water advisory was called by the Town of Creighton on May 31 and was lifted on June 4. Recent excavation work as part of the town’s ongoing water and sewer replacement project is listed as the reason for the advisory. Municipal water samples from Creighton submitted to water testing facilities in Winnipeg were confirmed to be safe.

In a social media announcement to residents, the Town of Creighton advised residents to stock up on drinking water the night the advisory was called.

It is the first time in 2018 that an advisory has been issued. Last summer, multiple precautionary advisories were called for Creighton’s water supply after pipe replacements.

The advisories have often been called after pipes have been replaced or after work has been completed on portions of the town’s ongoing water and sewer project.

When a water advisory is in effect, anyone wanting to consume tap water in Creighton is advised to boil the water for at least one minute before use, including when used for drinking, washing food or brushing teeth. Residents are also advised to not drink from public fountains and to not use the water for washing dishes unless the water is boiled or otherwise disinfected.
