Winter weather has allowed Foran Mining Corporation to extend its Phase I drilling program at its McIlvenna Bay property.
Patrick Soares, president and CEO of Foran said the extra time will allow for additional holes that were initially scheduled for the phase II summer program to be completed earlier than planned.
Foran reports it has released assays from 13 of 28 holes on the property and results from additional completed holes are expected to be released in the near future.
“We have been pleased thus far with the progress of the drill program and anticipate keeping the crew in the field until the end of April or spring break up, whichever comes first, said Soares.
Currently, Foran has four drills on site to complete its feasibility drilling program.
The extended season means the Phase I drill program is expected to completed 34 holes and 16,000 metres, including additional wedged off-cuts to collect metallurgical samples.
Foran is currently evaluating the exploration potential at McIlvenna Bay through its feasibility drilling. Current results suggest potential for the discovery of additional base-precious metal sulphide lenses near the McIlvenna Bay deposit, as well as the expansion of the known lenses with further exploration drilling.
As part of the McIlvenna Bay feasibility drilling, Foran continues to evaluate the exploration potential at McIlvenna Bay. Programs currently underway, include structural data collection from oriented core and borehole electromagnetic (BHEM) surveying. Results to date suggest good potential for the discovery of additional base-precious metal sulphide lenses proximal to the McIlvenna Bay deposit as well as the expansion of the known lenses with further exploration drilling.
