Jonathon Naylor Editor Drilling began Monday on a project that could bring Snow Lake's planned bioleach plant a new source of feed. Under contract to BacTech Environmental Corp., Rodren Drilling launched a drill program at Anderson Lake near Snow Lake. Anderson Lake hosts mine waste, known as tailings, from 10 defunct mines in the Snow Lake area. BacTech plans to begin construction this spring on a bioleach plant that will purify _ and extract gold and silver from within _ Snow Lake area tailings. The purpose of the drill program is to quantify the grade of gold and silver in the Anderson Lake tailings, as well as establish an oxide gold-sulphide gold ratio. The plan is to drill 25 holes over an area of 728 square metres. Last month, BacTech signed a memorandum of understanding with Hudbay relative to the Anderson Lake mine waste site. The company already has a deal in place to process gold-rich tailings from the long-idle New Britannia Mine, now known as the Snow Lake Mine.
