Callinex Mines is encouraged by new assays from holes drilled at its Gossan Hill mineral property near Cranberry Portage. The Vancouver-based junior miner says six holes were drilled, including an 8.9-metre core intersection grading 3.02 grams of gold per tonne (g/t) and 8.88 g/t of silver. Callinex said the intersection was received from a hole that collared 650 metres south of previous drilling associated with mineralization, and appears to be on the same horizon as mineralized intersections detected last year. The company said it has also received assay results that intersected 4.02 metres of 1.46 g/t gold, and 2.13 g/t silver, 325 meters north of any previously tested holes. These latest results 'continue to demonstrate the potential of the property,' Callinex said. Drilling at Gossan Hill has now been suspended as winter conditions recede. 32 holes The latest exploration program completed a total of 32 drill holes. Some core samples are still being analyzed, and Callinex plans to release the results in due course. Gossan Hill, which includes the long-defunct Gurney mine, is about 20 km northeast of Cranberry Portage. Records indicate the Gurney mine produced 28,045 ounces of gold between 1937 and 1939.
