The smoky air in the community today is the result of drift smoke coming from the major wildfires in and around Fort McMurray AB, said Kevin Buettner, fire technician with Saskatchewan Wildfire Management.
Buettner said there are no wildfires in the Creighton and Denare Beach area as of Monday, though there were two small fires in the area Sunday morning.
Creighton fire chief Rob Larocque confirmed the Creighton fire department responded to two fires early Sunday morning: one in the grass along the walking trail near the Phantom Lake turnoff and another near the soccer field in Creighton. The cause of the two fires is unknown.
On Friday, the Town of Creighton instituted a fire ban until further notice.
