Some lucky Flin Flon and Creighton residents will be trading in their mitts and parkas for sandals and suntan lotion. The Rotary Club of Flin Flon held its 2004 Dream Vacation Draw during a social Friday evening at the R.H. Channing Auditorium. Rod and Joyce MacDonald of Flin Flon were the big winners, taking the top prize of a one-week Caribbean cruise worth $5,000. Aloha! Winning a one-week vacation to Hawaii, a $4,500 value, were Dale and Val Dixon of Creighton. Flin Flon's Buzz and Sheila Dubreuil won a one-week getaway to Cancun worth $4,000. Brad Rhude of Flin Flon had his name drawn for a one-week excursion to Cuba, a $3,5000 value. Winning a one-week trip to Puerto Vallarta, worth $3,000, was Dennis Cone of Flin Flon. Creighton's Andrew Gryba will enjoy a three-day stay in New Orleans, a $2,600 value. Finally, Holly Reader of Flin Flon won a three-day trip to Las Vegas. The winners' names were drawn during Friday's social, which included the music of The Local Guys and a penny parade. Naturally, the suspense surrounding the draw added to the excitement of the evening, attended by about 225 people. Rotarian Dave Kendall said the club hopes to make around $14,000 from the draw, money that will go toward the proposed seniors housing project, if it goes ahead. The Rotary Club sold all 399 tickets for the draw at $100 apiece.11/22/2004
