A special donation took place yesterday at Canadian Tire. A check for $1,020 was presented to the Lord's Bounty Food Bank from the staff of the local retail store. "During the holiday season, five dollars from every sale of an artificial tree at Canadian Tire was donated to the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families program," said Phil Smethurst, owner of the local Canadian Tire. "This is to benefit local charities such as the Lord's Bounty Food Bank." Canadian Tire staff also showed their generosity by giving a food hamper to the food bank. The program is a national initiative that raised $836,000 this year right across the country. Other staff members were on hand to donate the two shopping carts full of food.
