Jonathon Naylor Editor More drilling is underway at a long-defunct copper mine near Snow Lake. Junior miner Rockcliff Resources recently commenced a winter drill program at the former Dickstone mine, located 30 km west of the town. 'The untested drill target is interpreted as a large buried conductive anomaly beneath the existing mine workings,' the Toronto-based company said in a news release. Rockcliff was encouraged by a drill hole last year that it said crossed the bottom edge of the anomaly and intersected 2.7 per cent copper, 0.3 per cent zinc, 0.4 grams of tonne (g/t) gold and 8.6 g/t silver across 2.5 metres. Rockcliff has the exclusive right to earn a 100 per cent interest in the Dickstone property from Xstrata Copper Canada. The Dickstone mine was in production from 1970 until 1975, utilizing two 350-metre production shafts to hoist ore. Rockcliff said the mine closed due to low metal prices. Meanwhile, Rockcliff said a geophysical survey is being completed at the Tower Property, also in the Snow Lake area. After the survey is done, drilling will commence.
