A prospecting company says it is encouraged by exploration work carried out at diamond properties near Deschambault Lake and Pelican Narrows.

Flin Flon-based Copper Reef Mining Corp. has unveiled results from sampling carried out last fall at its C2, C3 and B1 properties at the Pikoo Diamond Project.

In a news release issued Monday, Copper Reef said 28 till samples were collected and sent to a mineral research lab in BC for analysis.

In 20 of those samples, Copper Reef said, analysis verified 60 kimberlite indicator minerals (KIMs). KIMs may indicate the presence of kimberlite, a rock that sometimes contains diamonds.

Copper Reef “believes these preliminary results, especially those on the C2 and northern C3 properties, are significant and warrant further till sampling and ground examination,” the company said.

The C2 and C3 properties are located north of the Hanson Lake Highway, 10 km east of Deschambault Lake. Deschambault Lake is 140 km from Flin Flon.

The B1 property lies north of Pelican Narrows, which is 120 km from Flin Flon.
