Deputy Mayor Tim Babcock is congratulating the Flin Flon Bombers on an 'exciting' playoff run. At last week's city council meeting, Babcock, who sat as mayor in George Fontaine's absence, said the Bombers put their 'heart and soul' into representing Flin Flon. The Bombers recently went down in defeat to the Humboldt Broncos in the Bauer Conference final. Many fans had hoped this would be the Bombers' year, pointing to their stellar goaltending and well-rounded roster. The position of deputy mayor rotates between the six councillors throughout the course of their four-year term. In an unrelated matter at the council meeting, council okayed a property variance that will allow a deck to be added to the home at 220 Whitney Street. It cannot include walls. Council also voted to lease municipal land south of 17 Second Avenue to an adjacent resident.
