Police have charged a Denare Beach man in connection with an armed robbery at the Royal Hotel last fall.
Flin Flon RCMP arrested the suspect, 19, last Tuesday, March 24. He was charged with robbery, uttering threats, assault with a weapon, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, and numerous other prohibited-weapons offences.
The accused was to remain in custody until his first provincial court appearance in The Pas later last week.
Shortly before midnight on Friday, November 14, 2014, an unidentified male entered the front entrance of the Royal Hotel and approached the night clerk with an undisclosed weapon.
The male wore a hooded sweater and a black bandana. He demanded and received a sum of money before fleeing into the back alley. Police said the clerk was not injured.
Sgt. Shayne Smith of the Flin Flon RCMP said police continue to investigate a separate armed robbery at a Flin Flon convenience store last month.
In that Wednesday, February 4 incident, a masked, knife-wielding man robbed the store of an unknown amount of cash in broad daylight. There were no reported injuries.
Three days later, on Saturday, February 7, an armed man with a bandana over his face tried to rob a business on Main Street in Creighton.
He did not obtain any money and exited on foot toward the back of the building and alleyway. An employee present at the time was not injured.
