With Askivision having been sold late last year, new owner Access Com-munications Co-operative Ltd. is examining how it can better serve residents.

“We are currently looking into long-term plans and ways to enhance services in the area,” said Tracey Mucha, communications officer and marketing coordinator for Access.

Mucha said Access is looking into high-definition services and additional channels to be offered in the future.

Denare Beach residents are currently able to tap into digital TV, standard-definition TV, home security and internet services through Access and its partner, Little Loon Wireless, a rural internet provider based out of Saskatoon.

Access is the only cable TV provider in the community.

In the past, a community calendar channel was offered in Denare Beach, which included a live view from a camera overlooking the village.

However, the technology was in need of repair and was not operating at the time Access took over the service.

“We polled the community and asked if they would like us to set that up again or if they would rather have another channel option,” explained Mucha. As a result of customer input, HGTV was offered, replacing the community channel.

Mucha reported that Access is working at enhancing its technology and that a community events calendar is a possibility for the future.

Denare Beach is one of the newest areas to be served by Access. The company continues to look for opportunities to expand into other communities.
