Denare Beach's biggest celebration of the year is back Friday.

Beaver Lake/Amisk Lake Community Day will take place July 30, including family fun and sun at Denare Beach. The event and celebrations were originally supposed to be held on July 1, but was delayed. COVID-19 health orders were still in effect for Saskatchewan as of July 1, but almost all restrictions have been lifted in Saskatchewan as of earlier this month.

Events will get underway at 5 p.m. at Denare Beach's main beach, starting with a community hot dog and hamburger barbecue. Following events include music from Amisk Sounds, canoe races for adults and youth, kids games like potato sack races, a tug-of-war in the water and others, a sandcastle building contest and paddle boat races.

One planned event will not be going forward as planned - a fireworks display, originally planned for 11:45 p.m., was cancelled due to possible fire risk. A fire is currently burning on the western shore of Amisk Lake, the opposite side of the lake from Denare Beach, and fire danger in the area has been raised. The Village of Denare Beach announced it would reinstate a fire ban for the community July 30 - the Town of Creighton has also followed suit.
