Denare Beach voters will head to the polls next month to fill a vacancy on their village council. Former councillor Karen Thomson moved to Thompson earlier this year, and on Oct. 20, voters will decide who will fill her position. Interested residents have until 4 p.m. today to put their names forth. As of yesterday, two people had done so. The successful candidate will occupy the council seat for the remaining two years of the three-year term Thomson left behind. Candidates must fill out a nomination form and have at least five electors sign it. The Council of the Northern Village of Denare Beach consists of Mayor Carl Lentowicz and councillors Grant Adams, Roland Chretien, Wayne Elliott, Shirley Evans and Douglas Schaff.
