Dirt will fly and engines will roar when the 2004 Demolition Derby spins into action this Sunday at the Pineroot Raceway. Motorists with an itching to do some serious damage to their vehicles are raring to go for what has become a popular Flin Flon area tradition. "Come on down and watch people smash 'em up," said Harold Spring, one of the organizers. As gravel flies and smoke billows from the dirt pit at the centre of the raceway, the goal of each heat will be simple: have the last vehicle running. As in previous years, the beat-up automobiles will be adorned with colourful logos and slogans. A number of the vehicles have been spotted around town in recent weeks. The derby gets underway Sunday at noon and will consist of nine heats, including the mechanic's event and the powder puff event for the ladies. Anyone who would like more information may call Harold at 687-6958. The Pineroot Raceway is located along the North Star Road outside of city limits.
