RCMP are releasing scant details as they investigate one or more alleged sexual assaults in Flin Flon that date back decades.
Last month, Flin Flon RCMP received a report of a sexual assault that took place in the community between 1972 and 1980.
It was not entirely clear from an RCMP media release whether the case involved one assault from that time period or a series of assaults over the course of those years.
RCMP spokeswoman Holly Plato was not at liberty to clarify the matter.
“There is no information whatsoever I can release at this time,” she told The Reminder last week. “The investigation is in the very early stages.”
Plato also declined to comment on how many victims and suspects were involved, their ages and genders, and whether they knew each other.
Nor could she say whether the victim(s) or suspect(s) currently reside in Flin Flon, or whether the assault(s) had ever been reported to police prior to last month.
