Jonathon Naylor Editor Flin Flon area patients who need a CT scan will be temporarily transferred to Winnipeg or Thompson rather than The Pas. The installation of a new CT scanner in The Pas means a three-week service interruption to allow for renovations, installation and appropriate testing and validation of the new unit. From Sept. 25 to Oct. 16, patients within the NOR-MAN Regional Health Authority who require emergency CT scans will be sent to Winnipeg. Patients who need an elective CT scan may be referred to the Thompson General Hospital. But Diagnostic Services of Manitoba (DSM) says there is a wait list for CT service in Thompson, so patients should check when booking to determine if travel to Thompson would facilitate an earlier appointment. CT service is expected to resume at The Pas Health Complex on Oct. 17. The laboratories and imaging centres at The Pas Health Complex, Flin Flon General Hospital and Snow Lake Health Centre are part of DSM's provincial diagnostic network. DSM was created in 2002 as the not-for-profit corporation responsible for all of Manitoba's public laboratory services, and for rural diagnostic imaging services.9/28/2011
