Jonathon Naylor Editor If poetry is the language of the soul, there was a lot of soul-searching going on at the Flin Flon Public Library recently. The 11th Annual Poetry Night featured an eloquent blend of thought-provoking and more lighthearted prose presented by local writers and dignitaries. 'It's just to celebrate poetry,' said Harry Hobbs, who organized the event along with the library's Cindy McLean. About 50 people attended the informal evening event on April 13, with more than half sharing poems written by themselves or others. Ran gamut Topics ran the gamut from personal introspection and aboriginal perspectives to the experience of living in Flin Flon. Hobbs said the majority of the poems written locally, which he believes is a first for the event. 'I was very, very impressed,' he said. Aside from area residents, Hobbs noted that some people travel from Winnipeg each year to take in the evening. Poetry Night is held each year to help celebrate National Poetry Month. It is sponsored by the Flin Flon Writers Guild, the Flin Flon Toastmasters Club and the Flin Flon Public Library.
