RCMP are treating the death of a man on a northern Manitoba reserve as a homicide. This past Sunday, Jan. 20, at about 6 a.m., Mounties in Cross Lake responded to a disturbance at a large house party on Mission Point in Cross Lake. Officers arrived at the residence and found a 19-year-old local man suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the local nursing station, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The name of the deceased is not being released at this point in time. Four individuals were arrested in relation to this matter and have since been release without charge. An autopsy was conducted Monday in Winnipeg. The cause of death is not being released. Cross Lake RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of the RCMP D Division Serious Crime Unit, the Thompson RCMP Major Crime Unit and the Thompson RCMP Forensic Identification Services, along with other additional resources.
