Jonathon Naylor Editor Creighton Town Council is boosting land lease fees for Hudbay, small businesses and residents. Council voted last week to up its industrial lease fee _ which applies only to the Hudbay tailings pond _ from $375 per acre to $393.75. That is a five per cent rise. Other lease increases include: commercial land under one acre goes from 25 cents per square meter to 50 cents, with a $25 administration fee; commercial land over one acre will cost $750 per acre with a $25 administration fee; residential leases go from 25 cents per square meter to 30 cents with a $15 administration fee and a minimum fee of $50 a year; and all leases carry a new minimum fee of $100 a year per square meter and $750 per acre. Leases apply only to businesses and residents who use or occupy municipal land. Creighton had not increased lease fees since 2007.
