Creighton town council report: Tri-council talks continuing

He spoke about the gathering at last week’s Creighton town council meeting. He said the three leaders will meet again on June 21, and will hear presentations by Shane Vermette, executive director of forestry development in the Saskatchewan Ministry of Economy, and Trevor Ives, who represents economic development interests within Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.

In a council meeting earlier in May, Fidler had said that the three mayors had expressed a shared interested in bringing more economic development to the area.

Sportex tender

Council agreed to accept a tender for the Sportex drainage project, which is to be completed this summer at a cost of $11,880 plus tax.

Grad march

Council carried a motion to allow Creighton Community School’s Graduation March on Friday, June 17 at 6:30 pm.

Air show

Town council agreed to support the upcoming Flin Flon Rotary Airshow 2016 by making chairs and tables available for the event.

Walkway

Council agreed to release a tender for the removal of the walkway at the back of the Centennial Building and the construction of a new wheelchair–accessible walkway on to the deck of the building.

Fireworks

Council agreed to donate $500 to the July 1 Extravaganza fireworks event in Flin Flon.

Shooting range

Council approved a request from Creighton Wildlife Federation for use of the town’s loader and 100 yards of overburden to bring the federation’s shooting range up to code.
