Jonathon Naylor Editor Creighton Community School enrollment has dropped nine per cent over the last three years and the trend shows no signs of slowing. The school, which offers pre-K to Grade 12, has an overall enrollment of 485 students in 2012-13, down from 534 _ or 49 students _ in 2010-11. Moreover, whereas the school has 43 kindergarten students this year, that number is, based on birth rates, projected to shrink to 25 in 2016-17. Budget Meanwhile, the Creighton School Board is awaiting the March 20 release of the provincial budget, when allocations for the upcoming school year will be announced. 'The board then spends the next two months reviewing these allocations and preparing their budget for the upcoming year,' said Bob Smith director of education. 'This is typically approved at (their) June meeting, so the actual approved budget is many months away from being finalized.' The Creighton School Board's 2011-12 budget included $6.25 million in expenditures. Across the border in Flin Flon, school enrollment is up for the first time in 16 years, albeit by a modest 12 students over 2011-12. Flin Flon School Division enrollment now stands at 1,036 _ more than double that of Creighton.
