The Creighton Sportex has seen its fair share of shots over the years, but none quite like this. The arena is now home to a COVID-19 vaccine clinic, which will run daily until June 25.
The Sportex first began giving out shots June 21, providing Moderna vaccine doses for all eligible people. Both first and second doses are available at the Sportex site from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Appointments for both first and second doses can be made by calling 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829), while some first doses can also be given for walk-ins.
All people age 18 and up living in the Northern Saskatchewan Administrative District are eligible to get a shot, whether it’s a first or a second dose. Since Moderna has not yet received Health Canada approval for youth ages 12-17, minors won’t be eligible to receive doses. People who are eligible to receive a second dose who received a Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine as their first dose can also receive a Moderna dose as their second shot.
All second dose recipients must have proof of their first dose and must be past the recommended minimum interval between doses - in other words, all second dose recipients must have had their first dose at least four weeks earlier.
