A speed-monitoring sign appears to be making Creighton’s streets safer.
The sign, purchased last year, is currently set up on Main Street to advise passing motorists of how fast they are travelling.
Sgt. Mark Svaren of the Creighton RCMP said the sign is effective in getting drivers who are inadvertently speeding to slow down.
While firm stats were not immediately available, he said that since the sign was put into place he has personally received fewer complaints about motorists going too fast near Creighton Community School.
Town council voted to purchase the sign last year. It was partially funded with dollars from a reserve account once controlled by the now-defunct Community Police Board.
The board had recommended the town purchase the portable, solar-powered sign.
