Creighton School Division expecting tight budget

Creighton school trustees are bracing for a potentially challenging budget.

Creighton school trustees are bracing for a potentially challenging budget.

Due to the April 4 election, the provincial funding allocation to all Saskatchewan school divisions will be delayed until about mid-May, according to a Creighton School Division news release.

“Early indicators from the Ministry [of Education] would suggest that with the sharp decline in resource revenues all school divisions should prepare for a tight budget,” read the release.

The release also noted that divisions typically receive their allocation around the third week of March and submit their annual budget by the end of June.

“With the delay of almost two months in receiving the funding allocations, Creighton School Division will have less time to develop the 2016/2017 budget.”
