Creighton resident asks council to support ATV bridge plan

An avid ATVer asked Creighton council for their support in his rally to build bridges for easier access to trails.

An avid ATVer asked Creighton council for their support in his rally to build bridges for easier access to trails.

The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, says he will also be making a presentation to Flin Flon council and has already received verbal support from Hudbay – who’s property one of the bridges would cross.

“I am asking for permission to build [two] simple, but sturdy bridges for ATV…routing to exit the city with the least amount of travelling through town,” read a letter to council, which the resident read
at Wednesday’s council meeting.

The ATV enthusiast asked for Creighton’s support in the matter, though neither of the two bridge locations he has in mind cross into Creighton.

“Having the support would be nice,” he told council.

On a Google Earth map printout given to council, the resident had highlighted an area past Centoba Park – near Saskatchewan Avenue – as well as on the outskirts of Hudbay’s property and far beyond Lee Avenue in Creighton for the proposed bridges.

The ATVer said he was willing to complete the work himself, or with the help of friends, and was merely looking for
support.

With a less than full house, acting mayor Shirley Owen said the topic would be brought up at the next committee meeting, and that no decision could be made on the spot.

A Hudbay representative was unavailable for comment as of press time Friday.
