Creighton Mounties were busy throughout the month of May, town council heard last week.

Creighton RCMP Sgt. Mark Svaren told council the detachment had a slower month in terms of calls but made up for it in patrols and other areas.

“May was busy, but it was our own doing,” Svaren told council at their Wednesday, June 24 meeting.

The officers kept themselves busy during the national Traffic Enforcement Week, which occurred around the May long weekend.

Mayor Bruce Fidler relayed concerns regarding the 30 km/hour bylaw within the designated school zone. He asked if the speed sign was necessary on Creighton Avenue.

“Myself, in my opinion, I think it’s more of a hindrance to have it that far away from the school,” said Fidler.

Svaren said the matter would depend on how the bylaws are written.

A second concern came to Svaren’s attention regarding parking at the Creighton court office where there are no parking signs. He said he would look into the matter.
