Police in Creighton had no shortage of action last month, but still saw fewer calls in February than they did during the same month last year.
The numbers reflect a drop in total calls received from 2019, according to RCMP Sgt. Sean McPhee.
“We are showing a 22 per cent drop in stats again compared to the same period last year,” he said.
Within Creighton, 38 calls for service were made to police through the shortest month of the year. One assault was reported. Police were called when a man assaulted his father, but no charges were laid. The monthly report stated the family wanted to deal with any issues internally instead of going through court.
A pair of theft calls were reported to RCMP, with charges laid in both cases. One took place at the Creighton Petro-Canada station, while the other took place at the community liquor store.
Mischief and liquor calls made up nearly half the overall calls for service over February, with 10 liquor-related calls and eight calls filed as mischief offences.
“Creighton does not tolerate intoxicated persons in public and grossly intoxicated people get charged accordingly,” the report states.
Most mischief calls involved intoxicated people causing issues at various homes, but two calls involved damage - one when a person, while intoxicated, fell into a television and broke it, while the other call involved a mirror being broken on a semi.
A missing person was reported to police, later proving to be a traveller who had not checked in with a family member while driving. “This was because he did not have cell service,” read the report.
Various and sundry other offences, including false alarms, wellbeing checks, breaches, criminal harassment, importing weapons and a possession of weapons charge, were also reported.
It was a quiet month at the beach for police, who responded to a total of 27 calls at Denare Beach through February - less than one call per day.
Two incidents called in to police involved violence. One, ruled a domestic violence call, involved a woman who had been hit with a piece of wood. Police located the offender, who was remanded into custody. The second case involved an incident with kids “too young to be dealt with in the conventional way.”
Seven mischiefs were called in, along with two cases of uttering threats, one of which involved threats made over a video game. Two calls of attempted telephone fraud were also reported, along with a breach and a sudden death.
Only one call came from Sturgeon Landing, which also falls under Creighton RCMP jurisdiction. That call was severe in nature - a woman who had allegedly stabbed a family member with a knife.
“The investigation was completed quickly and charges are being brought forward,” reads the February detachment report.
